EDDM: Put Your Business in Local Mailboxes
Posted by Ole Star Graphix on Oct 3rd 2026
A local business needs local visibility. USPS Every Door Direct Mail, usually called EDDM, is one way to put a printed message in the hands of people along selected postal carrier routes without purchasing a list of individual names and addresses.
Keep the message simple
A useful mailpiece tells people who you are, what you offer and what to do next. A clear headline, a readable offer and your contact information matter more than fitting every detail on the page. Add a website address or a tested QR code if you want readers to continue online.
Why paper still has a place
Paper can be held, shared and kept on a counter or refrigerator. It does not need a login or a charged device. EDDM can work alongside your social media and website rather than replacing them. For a neighborhood service, a new shop or a local event, geographic reach can be especially useful.
Plan before printing
Check current USPS mailpiece eligibility, route choices, postage, bundling and drop-off requirements before approving a design. Confirm who will handle each mailing step and allow time for printing and preparation. A mailer creates an opportunity for a response; it does not guarantee sales.
